Tehran reports attacking a US naval base in Manama, as Iran launched missile attacks across the region in response for a significant and ongoing offensive targeting the nation by the US and Israel.

Large columns of dark smoke were observed billowing from an vicinity near the headquarters of the American Fifth Fleet in Bahrain's capital, Manama. The extent of any impact is not yet known and the American officials has remained silent.

Airspace Engagements

Elsewhere across the region, the UAE, Qatar and the State of Kuwait - which all house American military installations - said they have engaged and destroyed incoming projectiles in their territorial skies.

In the Qatari capital, Qatar's defence ministry announced it had successfully engaged several missiles apparently targeting the Al Udeid Air Base, the largest American base in the region.

Operation "Truthful Promise 4"

The Iranian Revolutionary Guard declared it was targeting American facilities and interests as part of military campaign "Truthful Promise 4", in retaliation for the offensive on the Islamic Republic carried out by the United States and its ally Israel on Saturday.

That US-Israeli operation - initiated at around 06:15 GMT - has so far focused on areas linked to the Tehran's leadership, with President Trump encouraging the Iranian people to rise up against the government.

Additional Developments

In the State of Israel, sirens were heard across the country after the Israeli military said it had identified an barrage of missiles from Iran.

The Ministry of Defence of the United Arab Emirates announced that the country has been targeted by a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".

"Emirati air defenses dealt with the missiles with high efficiency and destroyed a several projectiles," the statement continued.

It said missile fragments fell on a populated district in Abu Dhabi, resulting in some structural damage and the death of one civilian.

The US Air Force operates from the Al Dhafra base, to the south of the Emirati capital, along with the Emirati Air Force.
