I will stamp all over 'credible combatant' Paul - Anthony Joshua
The British boxer prepares to battle the American YouTuber in an eight round match which will be broadcast in real-time on Netflix.
British boxer Joshua said he will "stamp all over" Jake Paul and "overpower" the American as the pair came face-to-face to promote the upcoming bout.
Former twice world heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua battles social media star turned fighter Paul - in what is, on paper, a massive disparity - at Miami's arena on 19 December.
Boxer's Mentality
"I will injure his face and hurt his body. I aim to demonstrate I'm superior," the British boxer, 35 years old, declared.
"I plan to overwhelm him. That's a fighter's mentality.
"I will seriously aim to hurt him. That's my intention."
Respectful Interaction
Despite those words, a calm Joshua and internet personality Jake Paul - typically recognized for his theatrics - were respectful and kept it respectful with each other.
Jake Paul instead criticized ex Joshua opponent the Cameroonian fighter and labeled him "not serious" after Ngannou rejected a fight offer.
Targeting Tyson Fury
Joshua, meanwhile, took aim at UK rival Tyson Fury - and refused a £1m bet 'Tyson Fury' claims he will make on a victory for Paul.
"Jake Paul is superior to Tyson Fury - he's present here," the boxer stated.
"I respect him for that."
Serious Fighter
In spite of declaring he will punish Paul, Anthony Joshua refused to talk badly about his rival's boxing ability.
"Jake Paul is a credible opponent," he remarked.
Paul's History
Jake Paul - who first rose to fame on the Disney Channel - has mostly boxed mixed martial artists or declining opponents since turning professional.
He was defeated by Briton Fury in last year.
Financial Success
Nevertheless, the inexperienced fighter continues to be one of boxing's largest money-making draws, consistently making massive earnings.
Forecast and Belief
The 28 year old forecast a KO victory in the fourth or fifth round and asserted he would stop the highly-expected Joshua–Fury fight, which is reportedly being planned for 2026.
"It's going to be my match with Fury next year," Jake Paul declared.
Physical Difference
As Joshua and Paul met for the usual stare-down, with their size difference on show, it drove home just how unlikely this whole event is - and how amazing it is that the match is really going ahead.
